This app is for entertainment and general information only. Do not use it for operational, navigational, or safety-of-life purposes.
Aircraft positions are derived from ADS-B signals received by a community network of volunteer receivers. They can be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, or entirely absent. Coverage varies by area and altitude, and many aircraft do not appear at all. Nothing here is air traffic control information and nothing here is verified.
The weather radar is derived from NOAA/NWS MRMS data. It shows past observations, not a forecast, and it may be delayed or incomplete. Do not rely on it for flight planning or for decisions about severe weather.
These terms are an agreement between you and Blake Hughes, operator of the Airplanes.live iOS app, covering your use of the app and its supporting services. Using the app means you accept them.
What the app does
It displays publicly broadcast aircraft data on a map, along with optional weather radar, aircraft photographs, and route information. It is an independent app; it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any airline, aircraft operator, airport, or government agency.
Where the data comes from
- Aircraft data: the community-run airplanes.live network. Availability and accuracy depend on volunteer receivers and are not guaranteed.
- Aircraft photographs: © their respective photographers, via planespotters.net, shown with attribution. They remain the property of their photographers.
- Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- Weather radar: NOAA / National Weather Service (MRMS).
Subscriptions
The app offers an optional Pro subscription, sold and billed by Apple through your App Store account.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Manage or cancel at any time in your App Store account settings. We cannot cancel or refund on your behalf. Apple handles all billing.
- Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may change with notice.
Feeders fly free
If you run a receiver that actively feeds the airplanes.live network, Pro features are offered to you at no charge as a thank-you. This is a courtesy, not a purchase, and it depends on your receiver continuing to feed. Access is granted for a short period at a time (currently about a week) and renews only while your receiver is still sending data, so the perk ends shortly after a receiver goes quiet. We may change or withdraw this arrangement; it is not a paid entitlement and no refund arises from its withdrawal.
Acceptable use
Please do not: scrape, bulk-download, or resell data from our services; attempt to overload, disrupt, or circumvent rate limits; reverse engineer the app except where law expressly permits; or use the app for any unlawful purpose, including harassment or surveillance of individuals. We may restrict access where use threatens the service or other users.
Availability
The app and its services are provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or continued availability. Features may change or be withdrawn, and the supporting services may be interrupted or discontinued.
Disclaimer and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and its services are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Blake Hughes is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the data the app displays. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Kentucky.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the effective date above will change and the updated version will appear at this address. Continuing to use the app after that constitutes acceptance.
